Program Overview

 

The Department of Instruction for Secondary Education in Reading is designed for the purpose of:

 

·         Ensuring educational equity within and across schools,

·         Providing explicit and systematic TEKS-based instruction,

·         Creating and sustaining a learner-centered classroom environment,

·         Providing research-based interventions for struggling readers,

·         Monitor ongoing diagnostic practices that drive teaching and assessment decisions, and

·         Fostering a comprehensive reading program including rich literature, language, and comprehension components with a balance of oral and written language.
