Mission Statement
To develop and administer the energy and
environmental management programs to establish
accountability for the energy consumption at every level,
while providing a healthy learning and work environment
for students and staff. The Department follows all City,
State and Federal regulations on environmental compliance
issues and provides an extensive Indoor Air Quality
training program to minimize environmental hazards.
The United Independent School District used
62,000,000 kWh during the 2007 – 2008 school year at an
average consumption of 44 kBTU / sq. ft. making our districts one of the
most efficient school districts in the South Texas region.
These accomplishments are attributed to the energy savings
programs like the Watt Watchers and Incentive Agreement
Programs, which combined with our modernized energy
management systems, had contributed to the reduction of
the School District’s energy consumption.
